Calibration Process Using a Hemoglobin Standard

Wavelength calibration of the spectrophotometer is factory set and stable. Total hemoglobin is calibrated quarterly after using deproteinizer solution in the system. If the total hemoglobin doesn't mmet the maufacturer's specifications, then the calibration is adjusted using the calibrate knob found in the back of the analyzer. Adjust calibration by turning the knob clockwise ¼ turn to increase by 1 g/dL or ¼ turn counterclockwise to decrease by 1 g/dL. Calibration practicies will vary according to the manufacturer so it is important to always follow the guidelines of the manufacturer.
