Results from oxygenation testing provide vital information about the health status of patients. The purpose of this lesson is to enable you to learn about analyzing arterial blood samples to determine the oxygen saturation status of a patient. This includes:

  • specimen collection, handling and transport issues
  • validation of instrument function and daily and periodic quality control analysis
  • instrument calibration
  • specimen analysis
  • evaluating patient results
  • communicating these results
  • evaluating quality assurance
