The following information is provided to assist you in using our learning objects. If you have technical issues related to using our learning objects or this site which you are unable to resolve, please contact the WebCLS System Administrator.

Please note that Internet Explorer 6 (with Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed) may block downloads and display an Information Bar, typically located under the Address Bar. This Information Bar gives further options for downloading the blocked file.

Recommended Internet Browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5 or above (Microsoft)
  • Firefox (Mozilla)
  • Netscape Navigator 6 or above (Netscape)
  • Please note: JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled

Software to Open and Extract Downloaded Files:

  • WinZip (WinZip)
  • Other compression utility

Miscellaneous Instructions:

  • How to view an Adobe Flash (SWF) file
    1. Option #1: (easier)
      Configure your computer to open SWF files with Internet Explorer:
      1. Double-click the learning object to open it
      2. When prompted, choose the option to "Select the program from a list"
      3. Click the "OK" button
      4. Select "Internet Explorer"
        • If you want Internet Explorer to always open this type of file without prompting you, check the box labeled "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
      5. Click the "OK" button

    2. Option #2: (technical)
      Embed the learning object into an HTML file and view the HTML file (this can be done through FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or any web page editor)
      When you download a SWF file from our web site, an HTML file is provided for you that already has the SWF file embedded.
